Wine Country RV Resort - Paso Robles CA

 149.4 miles

Inching our way home so got this far yesterday.  Winds up again so not a fun drive.  Still, we got here about 1 pm after stopping at Hunter Ranch Golf Course for a nice lunch.

Our most expensive gas this trip is a tie at $5.839 in both Palmdale CA and Redding CA with the cheapest at $4.199 in Idaho Falls UT.  Although we've still got 100+ miles to go, we have gone 3,145 miles this trip.

These two photos show the water section of the adult spa which is about 50 steps from our site.  This is a beautiful campground - very big at 124 sites.

Thinking we might go to Flying Flags in Buellton tonight then home Wednesday morning.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort - Chowchilla CA

153 miles

Sunrise this morning

A wind advisory issued this morning AGAIN so we were getting thrown around on Hwy 99.  The solution was to set the GPS to avoid highways.

Lovely ride through farm country and small towns.  Much better drive but not much to stop and see.

Still, got here at mid- day and went to the clubhouse for lunch.  This is an amazing campsite and we enjoyed hanging out this afternoon.  Too bad we don't have food in the RV to take advantage of the barbecue!

Sherwood Harbor Marina & RV Park - Sacramento CA

 133.2 miles

Fun drive down Hwy 99 this morning.  Lots of green everywhere.

Miles and miles of nut trees - don't know which these are but a good guess would be almonds

Just driving through random streets - so pretty with the canopy of trees

Ran into the end of a parade in Durham and this dancing horse

Then we went through miles of rice paddies - who knew?

Crossing the Sacramento River on our way to the campground.

The downtown is on the right

You can see Norm by our RV in the blue shirt

The Canada Goose had been in the water for a long time then came up the hill

The visitors walked in front of us as we were sitting outside

Red Bluff RV Park - Red Bluff CA

102.4 miles

A rainy and overcast morning until we got from 3300 feet in elevation to below 500 feet.  Then some cloud, some sun, some blue skies.  Of course the winds came back with a vengeance this afternoon at 36 mph.

The Shasta Lake is very low but the colors around it are still so fascinating.

We lucked out again with this campground.  It's nicely done.

Entrance to the campground

This restaurant was half a block from the campsite and where we are going for dinner

Abrams Lake RV Park - Mt. Shasta CA

 176.1 miles

Rain, rain and more rain all day.  The forecasts all say rain for at least 2 days and some places are getting snow!  Yikes!  We need to change our direction.

Still we had the opportunity to stop at the Living Memorial Sculpture Garden and that was incredible.  Here is the official description.

About The Living Memorial Sculpture Garden

Big Pines RV Park - Crescent OR

 192.5 miles

The guy at the campground yesterday was right when he said our drive to Bend was 130 miles of scrub brush!

We had thought to stay the night in Bend but after having lunch there and then driving around we ended up on the highway out of town and decided to keep on going.

We ended up stopping here and then realized we had been here before.  Looking at Google Photos we discovered we stopped here in 2008 and in 2015.

Burns RV Park - Burns OR

 134.4 miles

A very picturesque drive today through green mountains following the Malheur River,

I have to admit to feeling somewhat uneasy at having to drive 124 miles with no internet or phone service.  But it was a lovely drive and that helped alot.

We got to Burns, pulled into the campground and had a laugh ...

A tour around town and it's back to the RV for dinner.

River Point Rv Park - Ontario OR

44.7 miles

Didn't get very far today!

A canal just outside Ontario, Oregon

We spent most of the morning trying to find propane.   It was crazy.  Because it was so cold this past week,  the heater really ate up the propane and we didn't want to take a chance of running out.  Went to 5 places before we found some.

Supposed to be a big storm coming our way today with strong winds.  The road to travel is 131 miles with nowhere to stop if the winds got too bad so we decided to wait it out today and just stay here.

Rain, thunder, lightning, winds - and we're cozy at the campground

Country Corners RV Park - Caldwell ID

198.3 miles

42 degrees and very foggy when we started off this morning.

Once we got close to Boise we pulled off to see the Idaho Potato Hotel.  What a hoot!

Instead of going back to Hwy 84 we checked GPS for another way and it had a route.  Before long we saw that we were in a combat training camp and continued forward with some trepidation.

Then the road turned to dirt and there was no way to know how long that dirt road lasted so we turned around. It would have taken us 2 hours to get back to the highway!

We made our way to the campground just inside Boise that we had picked online.  Took one look and said no even though it looked like there might be a few spots available.  They were cheek by jowl.

When we got into Boise proper we saw a cute restaurant...

We went in and were seated.   You couldn't have added a chair to the room.  It was packed with furniture and people.  I think we lasted a couple of minutes and then left. It was too uncomfortable for us.

By this time we were getting a bad taste of Boise and we decided to flee north.

About 40 miles away we found a lovely campground and got the last site!  They said they were booked solid all of April primarily because of Canadians going back to Canada!  ðŸ¤£ðŸ˜…😂🤣
